Patient Testimonials

  • Prior to coming here, I had constant sciatic pain when sitting or attempting to sleep. Now I rarely have the pain and when I do, I know the exercises to alleviate it.
    Thanks for everything!!

  • Both Becky & Dave are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The staff is welcoming, friendly and the atmosphere is nurturing.
I have more mobility in my shoulder and can now do movements that have been limited for years. I highly recommend these PTs for their individual services and true concern for differing ailments.

  • A few months ago I got tired of my back pain, which I had been experiencing for over two years. Every time I try to exercise, I end up pulling a muscle in my back. It got to the point where I couldn’t sit at work for seven hours without breaks.
After starting with Becky, I can now say I am a regular member at the gym and am able to exercise 3 – 4 times a week. I am able to work, organize my home furniture, and take walks with my daughter. All thanks to physical therapy with Becky!

  • I recently completed rehab with Active Health Performance Therapy following my second ACL surgery. Throughout the process, Becky and Dave were conscious of how my knee was responding and making sure that we moved at a pace that was right for the knee and comfortable for me.
Between in-office exercises, at home exercises and the use of a few weight machines, they quickly improved my ability to extend and flex the knee and built back the strength in my entire leg. By the time my last session arrived, I had 100% confidence in my knee!

  • I came to Active Health after finishing 6 weeks of PT at another facility. I had gotten back to exercising but felt I wasn’t able to perform to my fullest with my right arm. I had a lateral epicondylitis surgery in October and still had some weakness in that arm.
After 2-3 sessions with Becky and Steve, I felt like I was encouraged to push myself and that alone made it a bit easier for me to do my job and work out at the gym. They showed me a few more exercises with heavier weights to help build up my strength.

  • I came to Active Health Performance Therapy at the recommendation of my massage therapist to solve some issues with my running and get me through a half marathon. I was trying to prevent some recurring injuries and improve performance. Not only did I run the half marathon, but Becky figured out what my issues were starting from most glaring to the little fine points.
Very impressive, tenacious and willing to put in the work to make sure I got results. Very pleased and wouldn’t go anywhere else. They’re not just checking the box they are trying to get you results.
I’m doing my second half marathon this fall.

  • My relationship with Becky goes back many years ago when I had a partial knee replacement and she was my home health visitor. When she started her own business with Dave, I followed. I’ve come back after having left shoulder surgery and more recently after having had surgery on my right shoulder. PT with Active Health is worth my drive from Kennebunk for the personal and individual attention I receive.
At some PT clinics, you are part of an assembly line. One shows you how to do an exercise and states do 3 sets of 30. The next thing you know your instructor is helping someone else while you are hoping you are doing the 2nd & 3rd sets correctly. This doesn’t happen at Active Health. They are working with you for the full appointment time with no cheating. Any deviation from what is expected is corrected immediately.
I wouldn’t have gone anywhere else for PT.

  • I was limping when I finally called to come in. Pain started but was bad for about 2 months before I made that call.
Manual therapies & exercises on an ongoing basis relieved the pain. I did the exercises right away and the pain stopped.
No more pain. No more limping.

  • I was in daily “pain” with my knees (especially the right knee) prior to coming to Active Health. Over the past month I have come to a place where I do not have daily pain within my knees.
When I arrived, I did not have much motion in my right knee – I now have full motion in my right knee. I have been very impressed with the professionalism – in dissecting my issue and putting a plan together – and then seeing it through.

  • I have been experiencing severe hip pain for a number of years. Becky reached out to me at the gym and I haven’t felt better in years.
The exercises and stretches were painful, yet extremely beneficial for my long-term goals and well-being. I do not feel pain at work (police officer) and that is the biggest relief of all!
I would recommend Active Health to anyone, regardless of pain level.

  • Before I attended AHPT I had severe sciatica and right leg pain. Going into my second week, I went from a five pain to a one- which I had not had in 3 years.
I look forward to future therapy!

  • I am a 56-year-old man who is an active skier. Unfortunately, I injured my knee two winters ago, torn meniscus and partially torn ACL. I had surgery in July of 2015 to address the meniscus but not a repair to the ACL.
The knee was still unstable at the onset of this year’s ski season. With a ski trip to Utah planned for February 2017, I reached out to Active Health to see how they could help.
With the expertise of Becky, Steve, & crew, I was shown where my knee & leg weakness was and guided in specific exercises to strengthen my legs. One week prior to vacation, I am pain free, stronger, and ready for Utah powder!

  • I came in limping & on crutches after a tib/fib fracture. After two therapy sessions specifically for limping, the limp went away.
Now I can lift and walk with ease.

    J.Y.

  • I came to see Becky after a foot surgery. Dave made me pick up marbles with my toes – ouch – but he made me keep doing it. Much better now.
Then I came back for a neck problem- Steve was most helpful. The team at Active Health are professional, friendly, and make coming to physical therapy a pleasure.
I have recommended them to my friends!

  • Working with Active Health Performance Therapy has completely changed my life, for the better.
I was a hobbling, limping mess with no hope at walking normally again after breaking my ankle. I couldn’t do stairs at all and I was in so much pain. Dave has a lot of knowledge and a LOT of patience and even though I whine about the hard work; it has certainly paid off, and I now look forward to going to PT.
They listen attentively and guide you through everything with compassion and professionalism. I am so glad I found this place!

  • When I first came to Active Health Performance Therapy, I was unable to walk without a crutch as I was recovering from surgical repair of my left quadriceps tendon and severe sprain of my right ankle. I wasa mess!  The first day after my first session with Becky I was walking on my own!
It’s hard to say what has been the most transformative piece of the work. The exercises have strengthened not just my knee and ankle, but my core is stronger, me cardio and endurance is better and best of all I have gained a sense of confidence that enables me to feel that anything is possible! I feel better than I have in many years and I attribute much of that to Physical Therapy strengthening and training, as well as a concentration on the areas that are healing. It has meant a holistic and fundamental shift in how much stronger and confident I feel and how I approach the world.
My time with Active Health has been a fabulous experience and I look forward to more time together!

  • I went to Active Health Performance Therapy due to lower back pain (Sciatica) as diagnosed by my doctor. I had been having low back pain (trouble walking/sitting and had to limit my daily workouts such as running and weight lifting). I was very unhappy how my lifestyle was changing from one being quite active to one with limitations and pain.
The first time I walked into AH I was greeted warmly and felt like Becky took my concerns seriously and was committed to helping me feel better as soon as possible. Right away she wanted to know a lot about me and my situation in order to make the best treatment plan. She was extremely positive and reassuring that things would get better and we figured out a treatment plan that would work.
I met her once a week and my appointments consisted of a mix of exercises, stretches, manipulation, as well we education so I could move forward and get back into my normal routine. She was very helpful to show me how to care for my back and letting me know what exercises I should do and how to properly perform them. I always looked forward to my appointments knowing that I would be in good hands and treated with a high level of skill. Both Becky and Dave are very passionate about what they do and they really care for their patients- very welcoming and have a great sense of humor!
After about 8 weeks my back pain and limitations have gradually improved and I now am feeling up to my full activity level with no pain- I am very grateful for that. I would highly recommend Active Health Performance Therapy to any of my friends or family.

  • Both Becky and Dave are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Dave did a great job of not only explaining what to do, but also precisely why I was doing it, giving me a better understanding of what I was doing and motivation to follow through.
While chatting with Dave, the topic of knee pain that had bothered me most of my life came up, so I scheduled a follow up appointment to look at that (I was there for another issue entirely.) It never occurred to me that I could visit a physical therapist without a doctor’s referral, but I could, I did, and I only wish I had sooner.
The facility is also nice and its proximity to a full gym is nice bonus.

  • I was having a lot of pain in my neck and it was painful to turn. Active Health Performance Therapy put me through exercises and massaged my neck, and relieved my tension.
Now I am able to move and building strength in right arm which was causing a lot of the pain in my neck.
Thank you Becky, you have saved me once again!

    Love Ya

  • This physical therapy practice offers individual treatment plans in a relaxed yet profession atmosphere.
I am a primary care provider and would without hesitation refer to this PT practice for care. I have had very positive results with my treatment plan.

  • I can’t thank you enough for getting me up and on my new knees. The dozen sessions were very professional, informative and a lot of fun in your perfectly appointed torture chamber (haha).
I feel I came out of it with knowledge of my body that wasn’t there before. Your answers to my questions were right on.

    P.S.

  • What I love about Active Health Performance Therapy is that Becky and Dave don’t treat each patient the exact same way. They listen to me and really try to sort out the cause of the problem. And they follow up with me to make sure that my treatment is working.
They have helped me recover from a frozen shoulder and from Achilles tendinitis. I am an active person so I like going to a physical therapist who also is active. They understand the drive and the frustration with injuries.
If you are hurt, you should see them.

    P.M.

  • I was in pain for 3 months before I came to Active Health Performance Therapy.

They pushed me to do exercises that I found difficult. But they paid off.

Becky and the crew are very knowledgeable.

  • Becky has helped with a couple of different issues.  She does this by asking the right questions (in a friendly way.)  Then she spots where the problem is and designs exercises to provide relief and build strength.
She has helped with my recovery from radiation therapy and also with my recovery from hip surgery.
    She is great!

  • After my fourth joint replacement (2 hip and now my second shoulder) I decided to go to Active Health Performance Therapy for my physical therapy in part because of their connection to a gym (Fitness Factory). Although pleased with my former physical therapy, I wanted to not only get back to baseline but continue to improve.
Dave & Becky got me back to baseline quicker than ever! They taught me proper mechanics to continue improving my strength and flexibility throughout my entire body. I am currently working out at the fitness factory with a personal trainer who often consults with Dave & Becky on my progress.
I often see Dave & Becky at the gym and with their continued support and encouragement I am feeling better than ever. I couldn’t be happier with my original decision to get physical therapy from Active Health Performance Therapy!

  • Physical Therapy has made it easier to work, walk, stand, bend, sit, and cook. I can now jog on a treadmill for 15 minutes!

    S.S.

  • I would like to thank Becky & Dave for their knowledge and great care I am receiving.
I had shoulder problems and needed and received SRS. Dave & Becky helped me with my ROM deep tissue shoulder massage (breaking up scar tissue) gave me stretches and exercises to increase strength.
My goal was to perform everyday tasks which I can now do without pain.

    S.R.

  • My pain in my shoulder, neck, and arm had been keeping me from many everyday tasks and things I enjoyed.
Now, after much hard work, I am able to use my arm and not worry about any pain stopping me.

  • I could not throw a ball without my right latissimus dorsi muscle seizing up. In addition, I had occasional sciatica on the right side. So I began attending Active Health Performance Therapy.
Dave did electrical stimulation and gave me just the right exercises to strengthen back muscles I didn’t know I had. He also provided other exercises that eliminated my sciatica.
I can now throw a baseball or a football with my grandson. And it is getting steadily easier. My occasional sciatica is gone. Finally, my shoulder is now much more flexible because of the exercises Dave gave me.

  • Prior to coming to PT at Active Health Performance Therapy, I suffered chronic knee pain. The pain interfered with regular daily activities: house work, walking for exercise, sleeping. A painful swollen knee dominated my days and zapped my energy. Becky taught me a variety of exercises that focused on building strength in the knees and muscles surrounding the knees. After about 2 or 3 weeks the swelling was gone. Additionally, knee pain no longer clouded my activities. The reduction in pain has made a huge difference in my ability to be active, exercise, enjoy the outdoors and live without the exhaustion of constant pain.
PT concluded after 12 sessions. My knees are comfortable and much stronger. Becky made sure that I understood how to continue the exercises that have promoted building strength. I feel very motivated to continue with these exercises as well we work with weights in a gym near my home.

    I am very grateful,

    B.L.

  • Active Health Performance Therapy is fantastic – the whole team is wonderful!
Becky helped me recover from a surgical repair of a torn rotator cuff, complicated by frozen shoulder, with her plan of physical exercise and massage-manipulation of my shoulder joint. It took me from the initial pain and stiffness of surgery to a steady progression of mobility and flexibility.
My surgeon was very pleased with my recovery at my post-surgical review. I recommend Active Health to anyone in need of healing physical therapy.

  • Both Becky and Dave are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Dave did a great
job of not only explaining what to do, but also precisely why I was doing it, giving
me a better understanding of what I was doing and motivation to follow through.
While chatting with Dave, the topic of knee pain that had bothered me most of my
life came up, so I scheduled a follow up appointment to look at that (I was there for
another issue entirely.) It never occurred to me that I could visit a physical therapist

The facility is also nice and its proximity to a full gym is nice bonus.
